What Instrument Are You?

There are so many instruments to choose from in the world. Some of them have a thick brassy sound, some a deep bass sound. Others have a happy bright sound or melancholy whisper. The instrument that we choose to learn can have a lot to do with our unique personalities. What instrument would you choose?

  1. Strings

Stringed instruments include but are not limited to violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and many others. Strings have a soft sweet sound, so if you consider yourself a sweet, caring person, who is also perhaps a romantic, a stringed instrument might be the one for you. Get started on those lessons so you can serenade your friends and family.

2. Woodwinds

Woodwinds include clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, flute, oboe, and many others. These instruments have a smooth relaxing effect. If you are a relaxed person who likes to take things easy and not worry too much, you should try picking up one of these instruments. They are also good for building up that lung power, as they are played by blowing into them.

3. Brass

Are you the life of the party? Do you like being the center of attention? Then a brass instrument may be perfect for you! Brass instruments include trumpet, french horn, trombone, and many others. Brass instruments can range from having a deep full sound to a bright timbre. All of them have lots of volume though, so they are very easily notice. They are perfect for showing off your solo skills, or showing off you marching skills in marching band.

4. Percussion

Percussion instruments are the glue that hold orchestras and bands together, so if you like being organized and in charge, percussion might be perfect for you. Percussion instruments include drums, marimba xylophone, and many others. They are played by striking the instrument with mallets, sticks, or even your hands. Doesn't that sound fun?

At the end of the day, it is up to you what instrument you would like to learn. These observations about personality traits in instruments are fun to talk about though. Choose the instrument that gives you the most joy, and start practicing so you can meet all your goals and dreams. Happy playing!
